Feel like heading out for a rejuvenating weekend trip somewhere around Delhi? Here are some of the options we recommend:

Rishikesh – Haridwar: Located around 230 km from Delhi, the twin holy towns of Haridwar and Rishikesh have a lot to offer to the weekend traveler from Delhi – mystic temples, quaint cafes by the riverside, yoga ashrams, white water rafting, camp-stays with bonfire. Don’t miss the evening aarti (prayers) at Haridwar. If driving down from Delhi, stop by at the Jain Shikanji restaurant in Modinagar.     Read our Rishikesh travelogue >>

Lansdowne: This scenic little hill station is 250 km from Delhi and provides a quick escape from the city’s hustle-bustle. It is not far from Rishikesh and it is possible to cover both destinations on an extended weekend trip.     Read our Lansdowne travelogue >>

Jim Corbett National Park: Around 270 km from Delhi, Jim Corbett is connected by a convenient night train from Old Delhi Railway Station. While the chances of spotting a tiger in this sanctuary are pretty thin for most part of the year, the resorts located by the riverside make it an exciting weekend escape from Delhi.     Read our Jim Corbett travelogue >>

Sat Tal: If you have covered all nearby places and do not mind driving a little extra, a camp stay at Sat Tal is a great weekend getaway option from Delhi. Sat Tal is near Nainital and is 350 km from Delhi. We highly recommend staying at the Sat Tal Birding Camp.     Read our Sat Tal travelogue >>

Neemrana Fort-Palace: Got some extra cash to spare? Consider spending the weekend at Neemrana Fort-Palace – a heritage fort in Rajasthan that has been converted into a hotel. You need to book way in advance though, as rooms are limited and sell out fast!     Read our Neemrana Fort travelogue >>
